Russell Grant is educated, well versed, and unlucky in love. The former high school math teacher turned college professor lost his first love, Lauren Bennett to Marcus Winters. He rebounded and found love with Crystal Sparks. Then out of nowhere Crystal confesses she has found love with another and is moving on with her life without him. I enjoyed reading Calling for Rayne.. all of the characters seemed real down to earth related able..I love both Russel and Rayne they both had strong personalities and both of them not afraid of hard work. oh boy it started of with a bang with Russel and his ex that is one character that i did not like at all.. love how Rayne did not play when it came to her child. Russel for being honest about his feeling about dating. .I love the cover of the book it was not far off base on the character in the book... Over all enjoyed the book..Product details

I was very disappointed in how much profanity was is this book. I have read all of the books in The Lofton Family Series and have never experienced so much profanity along with the detailed sexual encounters of Russell and Rayne. I believe you can write a story without using either of these things. I enjoyed the storyline and how Russell and Rayne met and fell in love and how they were both able to restore their belief in love. I especially enjoyed how Rayne stood up to Crystal which ultimately lead to Crystal getting knocked on her behind. Rayne really got her message across to Crystal about messing with her man. Overall, the story was okay but I was very disappointed with the author's writing of this book. The Lofton's are a Christian Family and while they are not perfect they have all ended up leaning on God and His Word to change the challenging situations in their lives. Throughout this story I can't see where Russell or Rayne gave their lives over to God. Again, good story but very disappointed with the author's writing of this book. I don't think I would recommend this book to my Christian friends to read.

As much as I love Ms Lawson-Brown books, this just didn't do it for me. Russell and Rayne DID NOT have that real chemistry to call this a love story. Sorry.
Surprising storyline. Glad the people were down to earth. Felt realistic and not over the top. I enjoy how this author incorporates Caribbean influences and liked that the female lead had a child.
Second chance at love for 2 lovely people. With great friends and families,life can only get better. To love, families and good friends. Happy reading all.
I loved the story because it contains characters from past stories without any overkill. I enjoyed the fact that all relationships are not perfect and there importance of friendships. I was happy to see that Russell was honest about his feelings about getting into a relationship with a woman with a child(ren) he was keeping it real. I loved that Rayne was showing that her daughter Raven would always be her priority in her relationship with Russell.
Every once in a while I come across characters that stay in my head long after the story has ended. Russell & Rayne worked hard to keep their relationship honest and loving. Rayne is just what Professor Grant needed after his ex-girlfriend Crystal decided that she wanted the finer things in life. Rayne gave Crystal what she needed too! You have to read to find out was it was...it's hilarious and Rayne handled her business! Very good story! Nice surprise to see characters from Ms. Brown's previous books.
